Helati Social - Accepted for trial
Helati last edited by Irya
Have you read and understood the Guild Rules?
Yes. There's a two week trial, to make sure you like me, and I like you and that I'm polite/friendly in guild chat and world chat channels.
What is the name, class and preferred roles(s) of the character you are applying with?
Helati, a tauren resto shammy (lvl 28 at writing). I'm resto because I love to chase tanks and dps through dungeons to see if they'll stop long enough for me to heal them
What are your favourite things to do in WoW?
I enjoy leveling by doing 5mans, the dungeon group finder changed the game for me a decade ago when it came in, meaning I no longer needed to stand outside Uldaman on an alt shouting for a party for 3 hours. I genuinely enjoy the challenge of keeping 4 speed freaks alive.
How long have you been playing WoW?
I started way back in.... uh 2004'ish with vanilla (I've just reminded myself how old I am). I played till mid 2009 before leaving the game. I started up again about a week ago after a few local mates finally talked me back into it.
What are your previous guilds and why did you leave them?
Well all of my previous guilds are from over 8 1/2 years back on the Dragonblight server as my rogue. I started out in a social guild called Trumpton Riot Squad, quite possibly the friendliest bunch of WoWers I've met to this day. I stuck with Trumpton for a fair while (and didn't lose touch until I quit wow), whilst I raided with a hodgepodge of late night raiders from various guilds called the Armada Alliance twice a week. I had friends in high end raiding guilds at the time, and when one of said guilds (booty bay surf club) had MC on farm, I cobbled together enough cash to pay for them to take 5 of my TRS guildies and me through MC so they could see the content. Whilst in there I apparently impressed someone, as I got asked to come help out on their BWL runs from time to time, before being eventually asked to join. Booty Bay Surf Club, led to 'Is better than you' after an internal rift in the guild that broke it in two, which eventually became Pentaverate. Penta was a guild that competed for server firsts and I enjoyed raiding, but after a few years of it I'd had enough, and dropped to a more social role in the guild. I spent my time on wow collecting materials and getting all the flasks/pots made for the guild instance runs. (I even used to stand outside the instances handing out the flasks to those about to enter, god I must of been bored). I ran the guild bank, and sold their un-needed patterns/schems on the AH for them, and I produced spreadsheets for rogues to maximize their dps via enchants/gems etc. End of the day it was the social aspect that kept me around, and playing my alts in 5mans made a nice change of pace from being a rogue all the time. Eventually I realised after jumping around ironforge for 8 hours one day that the game didnt seem to have anything to offer me anymore and I was losing interest. I remained in contact with alot of my old guild mates via steam and ventrilo, but played other games instead.
What do you hope to find in our guild?
Without the social aspect of the game, WoW is simply not as fun. I'm hoping to find some people who are fun to chat to and if I can help out with healing some alts through lower level dungeons, all the better. I'd like to believe that although I'm a low level char, I can still be of some benefit to the guild, be it through helping gather basic materials, help alts out with leveling or my vast knowledge stemming from years and years.... and years, of poor life choices.
All in all, I'm purely looking for the social side, I've not really got any interest in raiding again, plus I think my partner would probably garrot me if I did.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
One of the main reasons I'm applying here is that of the dozens of people I knew on WoW back in the day, I only know about four that still play, and they're all in your guild. Some of them are local to me and play in my D&D campaign, so how much damage they take next session may possibly hinge on how this application goes
Apologies if I butcher their characters names: but Neil, Adam, Dennis & Mark, aka Sol, Astrape, Kamin & DW are the guilty parties. Although its just Neil and Adams d&d characters that hang in the balance.
I feel like I've just written some kind of 'This is your life' book for my WoW history.
Whatever you guys decide, cheers for reading, and all the best.
Godfrey aka Helati (named after Kaz the Minotaurs wife, from the dragonlance d&d books, cos I'm that sad)

Good to see this application put in, a long time friend and old guild mate of mine from Dragonblight chasing those server firsts back in the day.
Poor guy has known me for about 17 years, so he must have some dedication.
Top guy, will happily put my name forward as a reference.
